UX LEADERSHIP , STRATEGY AND DESIGN

What is Qualcomm’s SAGA ?
(Software Analytics and Global Automation)

It is the business vertical dedicated to the development of cutting-edge
developer and analytics tools for Qualcomm processors and chips.

This case study highlights my contributions and the significant impact I have made as the
founding UX Designer for SAGA.

  • Spearheaded the UX of 15+ products including 7 successful 0-1 product releases

  • Increased overall user adoption of our products by 12.3% over a 6 month period

  • Boosted developer productivity by streamlining design-to-development workflows leading to early release of 4 products

As the founding designer for SAGA -

I was responsible for the UX of two product areas.Directing the UX research , strategy and design for 15+ tools and applications.

Developer and Analytics tools - 13+ Products

Tools designed to help developers build, test and analyze software

Users : developers , Original Equipment Manufacturer ( OEMs ), Hardware engineers

I collaborated with multiple teams within SAGA to establish product roadmaps and UX strategies

Conducted multiple workshops with 5+ directors and 7 different project teams to define the UX strategy for both product areas.

EXAMPLE

Defining the UX Goals for merging :

  •

  • Identify redundant flows and merge them into one.

  • Ensure user migration / transitions from legacy application to merged application is smooth.

  • Ensure painpoints are not carried forward

  • Identify the different user groups and ensure their needs are met

EXAMPLE

Facilitated impactful workshops to define product strategy and vision while educating stakeholders on user centered design principles, driving alignment and innovation across teams

  • Aligned 7 different departments and corresponding department directors on a common UX vision and strategy

  • Streamlined release cycles by prioritizing critical user functions over nice to have features

  • Fostered a deep understanding and adoption of user centered design principles across departments.

UX DESIGN INITIATIVES

Our highly technical product areas are inherently complex, so I focused on ensuring that the UX is intuitive and scalable to accommodate future complexity and growth without sacrificing usability.

EXAMPLE

I spearheaded the adoption of modular design principles to address the growing complexity of our developer tools.

Adaptability to our constantly evolving requirements

Easy updates without disrupting the entire system, making tools future-proof and responsive to evolving needs.

Customizability for Users

Users can enable, disable, or extend modules to tailor tools to their workflows, providing flexibility without added complexity.

EXAMPLE

Implemented UX design interventions that enhanced the readability and analysis of complex data.

Streamlining complex log information :

Improved readability by categorizing logs and structuring them chronologically

EXAMPLE

To help users navigate our complex product landscapes I introduced several solutions aimed at improving usability and overall user experience such as:

Onboarding tours :

A guided walkthrough of your key features and functions.

Steppers :

Steppers helped break down our complex workflows into manageable steps, making our tools more intuitive and user friendly.

UX DESIGN INITIATIVES

I conducted a comprehensive analysis of developer user journeys across multiple products to uncover inefficiencies, identify time sinks, eliminate redundant steps, highlight opportunities to reduce user burden.

This helped streamline workflows and improve overall developer productivity

EXAMPLE

To help users navigate our complex product landscapes I introduced several solutions aimed at improving usability and overall user experience such as:

Digital Experience Registration and Downloads.png
Digital Experience Registration and Downloads - 2.png

EXAMPLE

Downloading, compiling, and flashing chip software onto a device previously required multiple applications and a complex environment setup.

I streamlined this into a quick, four-step process using a single application, simplifying the entire procedure.

UX DESIGN INITIATIVES

Designed ecosystem-wide foundational solutions - including notifications, data files, workspaces, and account settings - that promoted cross-tool adoption.

EXAMPLE

Introduced a cross-tool notification system that consolidates notifications from all applications within the ecosystem, enabling users to view and manage them in one place.

NOTIFICATION TYPES

Group 427318781.png

I spearheaded the design and development of a comprehensive search and discovery system, collaborating across multiple teams and conducting in-depth user research to structure over 1,000 tools and software into intuitive, robust categories.

This system empowered users worldwide to seamlessly filter, navigate, and discover the right tools and software, .

EXAMPLE

I consulted with multiple teams and conducted in depth user research ( user interviews , analyzing search keywords used by users , competitor analysis ) to build a categorization system.
This categorization enabled us to design user experiences that helped users easily search and discover tools and software through our categories and filter.

The image shows the planning excel sheet that encapsulates all the different categories of tools and software in Qualcomm

EXAMPLE

Built a primitive personalization system that will recommend users tools and software based on their usage analytics ( implicit and explicit data touchpoints on user preferences ) and personas through personalized ads and in app recommendations

  • Increased ad conversion by 17.3%

  • Added 9k+ users on the first month the release of our personalized ad experiences and discovery UX initiatives

Incorporating Evidence-Based Design:

I established data analytics frameworks to measure user behavior and performance, creating actionable insights to inform and optimize design decisions.

Building a Culture of User Research:

Created internal recruitment networks across our 40K employees and mailing lists across diverse business verticals to enable usability testing, surveys, user interviews, and focus groups, embedding user feedback into the product lifecycle.

EXAMPLE

Established data analytics frameworks such as Adobe analytics and MouseFlow to quantify user interactions.

Heatmaps to measure user clicks and identify critical touchpoints

Group 1073716979.png

I led the standardization of the user interface across diverse product areas.

Partnering with the marketing team, I
established consistency in logos, voice, and tone, ensuring alignment across all customer touchpoints.

In parallel, I collaborated with the design systems team to
build foundational UI libraries.

EXAMPLE

Collaborated with marketing and legal to standardize logos and icons , voice and tone of the messaging in our ads and application.
